Chadsmoor War Memorial, Initial memorial commemorating WW1 erected and Dedicated 2015; WW2 names added 2016

A memorial to remember the Chadsmoor men who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2

CHAPS worked in conjunction with Chadsmoor Local History Society, led by Councillors Derek and Muriel Davis to realise this memorial. Mike Mellor of CHAPS was designer and project manager. £12,000 was raised to build the memorial which was crafted from Portland Stone by local firm A Walker & Sons.

The memorial bears the names of 163 men from Chadsmoor who lost their lives in WW1.  It was dedicated in April 2015 by Rt Revd Clive Gregory, Bishop of Wolverhampton; Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire Ian Dudson CBW K St J attended.

In 2016 the 40 names of the Chadsmoor men who lost their lives in WW2 were added.  A service was held in September 2016 when the names were unveiled by Major General John Henderson CB.

A Remembrance Day service is held every year on Armistice Day; it is attended by local school children as well as members of the public; all are given the opportunity to remember and reflect.  Local churches also go to the memorial to lay wreaths following their Remembrance Day Service. The site is often used for occasions important to the village of Chadsmoor, this includes national events.

The memorial is to be found on the corner of Burns Street and Cannock Road, Chadsmoor, WS11 6DR
